Different Types of Semi Trailer Axle Sizes

1. Flat-bed semi-trailer and high-rail semi-trailer: These two types of semi-trailer are the most common on the highway. The standard length of a flat-bed semi-trailer is 13 meters and the weight is only 5-6 tons. It is a lightweight semi-trailer with lightweight design , but some companies have special designs during manufacturing that allow the flatbed trailer to be elongated. The standard length of the high-rail semi-trailer is 13 meters, and some lengths can reach 17.5 meters. The high-rail semi-trailer has a wide range of uses and is suitable for long-distance transportation. It is generally used to transport vegetables, clothes, home appliances and other daily necessities. The axles used by these two semi-trailers are generally standard 13-ton axles, and some car owners will be equipped with 16-ton brakes to enhance the braking performance of the axles. The wheelbase of the standard axle is 1850mm, which refers to the distance between the tires on both sides.

2. Low-bed trailers: Low-bed trailers are vehicles specially used to transport engineering operations, such as excavators, road rollers, hook machines, loaders, bulldozers and other vehicles. The axle used by the low-slab semi-trailer is a low-slab axle specially produced for it. It is characterized by a relatively low chassis and the use of small-sized tires, which is very convenient for engineering vehicles to get on and off. The general single axle load of a low-slab axle is 10-13 tons, the wheelbase is 1920mm, and the axle tube size is 127mm.

3. Container semi-trailer: As the name suggests, the container semi-trailer is specially used to transport containers. Its design is relatively simple. The semi-trailer looks like a flatbed truck and can only hold containers. Generally, the length of the axle used by the container semi-trailer is standard, and the axle of different tonnage will be used according to its load. If the container usually pulled is relatively heavy, then the axle of 16 tons or 20 tons can be used.

4. Self-unloading semi-trailer: It mainly transports bulk goods such as coal, muck, and grain. The self-unloading semi-trailer is very convenient for cargo loading and unloading. This kind of semi-trailer has a strong bearing capacity and will never deform. The processing technology is very advanced, sturdy and durable. The axles used are all high-strength and high-bearing-capacity axles that have been tested by the market, generally 16-ton or 20-ton axles.
